Heavy security presence in Bayelsa ahead of Alamieyeseigha’s burial

Security is in top gear ahead of the burial ceremony of late Diepreye Alamiesiegha, the first civilian governor of Bayelsa state, on Saturday, April 9. NAIJ.com can authoritatively report that security personnel have been deployed to the residence of the late ex-governor as guests arrive for his interment today. The late ex-governor, who died of cardiac arrest at a Port Harcourt hospital on Saturday, October 10, 2015, will be buried in his hometown Ammassoma in Bayelsa state. Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, incumbent governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce are amongst other top dignitaries expected to attend the funeral ceremony of the late ex-governor, to pay their final tribute to a man who was popularly known as “Governor-General of Ijaw Nation” Born on November 16, 1952 in Amassoma, Ogboin north local government area of Bayelsa state, Alamieyeseigha was a die-hard supporter of former president Jonathan and Governor Dickson. He was once accused of corruption and allegedly disguised himself as a woman in London in order to evade arrest over charges of money laundering and was later impeached as the governor.
