The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the Department of State Services is planning to rob the party of its hard earned victory recorded in Akwa Ibom state in the last election.
Making this claim in Akwa Ibow on Tuesday, September 16, the acting national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, said that DSS is trying to deny Governor Udom Emmanuel of his victory, The Punch reports.
He alleged that DSS has asked its operatives to testify against the victory of Governor Emmanuel at the governorship election petition tribunal in Abuja.
Secondus added that he and his executive are in Akwa Ibom to show solidarity with the government and her people over the alleged invasion by DSS. He stressed that what happen in Akwa Ibom could be likening to political coup led by the All Progressives Congress government. The PDP boss noted that at the end of the day justice will prevail.
Secondu said: “The plan by the DSS to forcefully ask some members of the agency to appear at the tribunal does not bother us. We trust that the Nigerian judiciary will do the right thing. The judiciary is not partisan. They won’t listen to all those gossips.
“What happened in Akwa Ibom is the equivalence of a political coup by the APC. What are they looking for in the Government House? Why can’t they go to the Government House controlled by the APC?.”
The APC had told the PDP and its supporters to hold their breath for the report of the purported invasion of Akwa Ibom state government by the DSS to be made public before they start making conclusions.
Ita Awak who spoke on behalf of the APC in the state, accused Governor Emmanuel of double standard and also sponsoring media attack on the party.
