Oyegun Should Resign - APC Chieftain

The ongoing crisis rocking the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a new turn as one of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) member, Timi Frank has called for the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun.

While speaking in Abuja yesterday, Frank blamed the chairman and some members of the APC’s NWC for the crisis that resulted from the election of leaders of the National Assembly.
According to The Sun, the NWC member said that the chairman and leadership of the party should resign having embarked on an embarrassing mock election that never had the blessings of the entire party’s leadership which ridiculed the party.
Frank said that the leadership showed incompetence to manage the National Assembly issue until it blew out of hand as a result of the interest manifested by the chairman and few of his colleagues.
He said the situation is rather unfortunate blaming the APC chairman, for clearly failing to consult widely before embarking on the mock election.
The APC chieftain said he is of the opinion that if APC wants to rid itself of the mistakes of PDP, it needed a chairman that would shield himself from undue pressures no matter where it emanated from.
He described the National Assembly election as a good show of democracy adding that Nigeria stood to be the overall beneficiary.

Meanwhile the Senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki has started initiating peace moves with the leadership of APC and his colleagues, who are opposed to his victory.
